RRCC to hold Solarbration on Summer Solstice

SolarbrationFree event celebrates Sustainability in our Community

LAKEWOOD, CO – Red Rocks Community College invites the community to join us for Solarbration on Monday, June 21 at the Lakewood campus, 13300 W. 6th Ave., from 3-7 p.m.  The free event, which takes place on the summer solstice, celebrates the first day of summer and provides an opportunity to learn about sustainability in our communities and network with others in this expanding field.

Solarbration will feature booths and information from nearly 40 vendors, such as Xcel Energy and NREL, demonstrating sustainable products and services.  Other highlights of the event are:

  • Guest lecturers
  • Solar/wind mobile units
  • Door prizes and free give-aways (including a chance to win a free class at RRCC)
  • Volunteer and job opportunities
  • Face painting
  • Free cookies baked from solar ovens

Tentative topics for free 30-minute lectures include local RTD info and sustainability, solar PV technology, CSU transfer programs in green careers, retrofitting for energy performance, solar thermal energy, guide to job opportunities, and sustainability in Lakewood.
