ACC Thanksgiving Food Drive Begins Nov. 1

LITTLETON, Colo. – The Arapahoe Community College (ACC) Child Development Center is once again hosting its annual Thanksgiving food drive to help needy families in the area have a happy and enjoyable Thanksgiving Day.

The Center will be accepting non-perishable canned foods from Nov. 1 – Nov. 16. Community members and students may drop off donated items at the Child Development Center located in the North Building on ACC’s campus. Cash donations will also be accepted.

“Each year the ACC Child Development Center has the opportunity to change the holidays for families in need through the participation of the campus community,” said Child Development Center Director Mary Foster. “Working together in this effort has been a long standing tradition at ACC.  Each year, ACC staff and community members go above and beyond our expectations in order to help out those less fortunate.  We want to thank everyone who has participated in past efforts and those of you who continue to help us to work towards helping those in need.”

Last year, ACC collected enough items to feed 87 families. This year, the center is hoping to top that number and provide 100 baskets to the community. Families wishing to receive a basket may stop by the Child Development Center between 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Nov. 17 – 19. Families may also make special arrangements to pick up a basket by calling the Child Development Center at 303.797.5678. Baskets will be available on a first come, first serve basis.

ACC’s Child Development Center was established in 1975 to provide affordable childcare service to students and the community. The Center is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is licensed for 55 children ages 2 ½ to 12. For more information on the Center call 303.797.5678 or visit www.arapahoe.edu/student-resources/child-development-center.
