NJC honors bank for tournament support

When the Bank of Colorado Event Center was opened in October of 1998, one of the first events to take place was a November basketball tournament which has since been  appropriately deemed the Bank of Colorado Shoot Out. The tournament has continued to be an annual event named after and supported by the Bank of Colorado. At this year’s tournament, the Northeastern Junior College men’s basketball program took time to recognize the bank for its ongoing sponsorship of the tournament, which typically brings four to six teams to Sterling for a full weekend.  The bank always provides some type of half-time contest or door prize drawings featuring really nice prizes for the winners.  In past years, the tournament has been comprised of games between  men’s teams or women’s teams and sometimes both teams were represented.

Bank officials Steve Meier and Justin Hoozee were called to center court at the start of the NJC vs. Buckley Air Force game last Friday night where current head men’s coach Eddie Trenkle and retired head men’s coach Lowell Roumph presented them with a framed message of appreciation.  Pictured here, left to right are: Lowell Roumph,  Justin Hoozee, Steve Meier, and Eddie Trenkle.
