Lamar Community College recently announced that it will offer Service Area Scholarships to all graduating seniors in its primary service area (Baca, Cheyenne, Kiowa, and Prowers Counties) as well as seniors at all Southeast BOCES school districts. This initiative symbolizes a significant investment in our region in terms of educational attainment and workforce development. “The $1,000 scholarship represents approximately a third of what we anticipate 2011-2012 full-time tuition will be,” commented LCC President John Marrin, “it illustrates our commitment to provide affordable and high quality education for those in our region and beyond.” This one-year scholarship pays $500.00 per semester (fall/spring) towards full-time tuition in the 2011-2012 academic year.
Applications are available at www.lamarcc.edu/scholarships; the deadline is April 15. Applicants must have submitted an LCC Application for Admission for the 2011 fall semester and a FAFSA by April 15th. If the student qualifies for grant aid, the amount of the LCC Service Area scholarship may be reduced so that the combination of grant funding does not exceed the cost of tuition per semester. The Service Area Scholarship will be applied after federal and state grants and before any loans.
ASCENT students qualify for Service Area Scholarships after completing their fifth year; scholarship applications should be submitted the spring of fifth year.
