LCC’s Adjunct Faculty of Year, Dr. Jerry Medders, is an accomplished teacher. With diverse experience in public education and forty nine years in ministry, he is a dynamic presence in any learning environment. He started substitute teaching shortly after starting his professional ministry career. Eventually, teaching became the full-time occupation and ministry, the part-time avocation. In either case, he continues to derive intense satisfaction from his students’ success and thrives on the connections he makes with them. He, and his wife, Lola, moved to Lamar to accept teaching positions in Colorado, much closer to their adult children and their families. All three of their children are involved in education in one way or another. Lola teaches third grade at Parkview Elementary School. Currently, Dr. Medders teaches Ethics, Public Speaking, and Developmental English Composition at Lamar Community College.
Lamar Community College seeks to create a blend of full-time and adjunct instructors who bring diversity, experience, and depth of knowledge to the classroom. Acknowledgement of excellence in instruction is a small token of gratitude to the many adjunct instructors who lend their time to the college.
