NJC continues culinary classes

Northeastern Junior College’s Extended Studies Department continues to add additional culinary classes to its fall line up. Another class has been added just recently, in response to the popularity of the previous classes offered this fall.

There’s still time to get into the Cupcakes Extraordinary! Class being taught by Angela Anderson on Monday, October 17th from 6 to 8 p.m. Cost of this class is $25. Students will learn how to edge, dip, and decorate cupcakes. Anderson will get you ready for Halloween and cupcake decorating as she shows how to make different cupcakes.  You’ll have an extraordinary learning experience and receive great recipes for such cupcakes as a mummy, spider web, vampire bat, and a pumpkin. You need to register for this class by Thursday, October 13th.

A Healthy Cooking  seminar,  taught by Gerry Torres will help students find ways to make healthy diets still taste good and add variety. Topics to be covered include low carb, high protein, gluten free and vegetarian recipe dishes. Cost of this class, which runs Monday, October 24th from 6 to 8 p.m. will be $25. You need to register for this class by Wednesday, October 19th.  Torres is the consumer education teacher at Sterling High School. He’s a very qualified cook eager to share what he knows with area students.
