Outstanding faculty, administrative, and classified employees recognized for merit
LAKEWOOD, CO — Each year, Red Rocks Community College recognizes three employees for exceptional service. One person is selected from each category of employee, which includes Faculty, Classified, and Administrator/Professional-Technical.
Peggy Morgan, the vice president of business services, is administrator of the year for 2011. Jack Henderson, from facilities, is classified employee of the year. Heather Duncan, the mathematics department chair, is faculty of the year.
Peggy Morgan is celebrating 15 years of service at RRCC. As the vice president of business services, Peggy oversees all of Red Rocks’ financial departments, including purchasing, the cashiers’ office, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, budgeting, and contracts. The human resources, facilities management, information technology and audiovisual, children’s center, school-age child care, and child care innovations departments also report to her. Although she is a CPA and brought many years of financial experience to her position, Peggy first worked in the great outdoors as a forest ranger. She is from Pennsylvania originally.
Jack Henderson has been at RRCC for six years. He works in the facilities department in structural trades and as the campus locksmith. He also does plumbing, minor construction, electrical, and carpet-laying. He has been recognized by his department for attention to detail and organizational skills, but is known campus-wide for his great attitude, solid work ethic, and cheerful personality. Jack is originally from Arizona, but has lived in Colorado for over 30 years.
Heather Duncan has worked for Red Rocks since 2002 and has chaired the mathematics department for one year. She holds a BA in mathematics from Fort Lewis College and a master of arts in teaching from Northern Arizona University. A Colorado native, Heather has been recognized for her leadership skills as well as outstanding teaching ability, holding together her department through a year of transition and instability. When not assisting students and faculty, she enjoys mountain and road biking, skate skiing, yoga, running, studying French, and volunteering at a local cat shelter.
