LITTLETON, Colo. (Sept. 12, 2012) – Arapahoe Community College’s Laura Johnson has been selected as one of only 20 nationwide students to receive Phi Theta Kappa’s 2012 Frank Lanza Memorial Scholarship.
The Frank Lanza Memorial Scholarship recognizes the outstanding academic and leadership accomplishments of students enrolled in registered nursing, respiratory care or emergency medical services associate degree programs.
Johnson, a Denver native, is a third-semester student in the ACC Nursing Program. As a Lanza Scholar, Johnson will receive a $2,500 scholarship and a commemorative certificate. Lanza Scholars will be presented with their certificates at the 2013 Phi Theta Kappa Annual Convention (Apr. 4-6 in San Jose, Calif.).
Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for two-year colleges, is the largest honor society in American higher education. The Sigma Phi Chapter at ACC was chartered in 1968 and has inducted more than 3,450 members since its inception. Sigma Phi has retained its “Five Star Chapter” status for over 15 years. Dr. Erica Hastert serves as the Sigma Phi Chapter faculty advisor at ACC.
