Colorado Springs, Colo. – October 30, 2013 – Iraqi war journalist Haider Hamza will present wartime photographs and stories at Pikes Peak Community College (PPCC) Centennial Campus Theater, 5675 S. Academy Blvd., Nov. 14, 12 – 1:30 p.m. PPCC’s Military and Veterans Programs and Student Life are hosting this presentation as part of a series of Veteran’s Day events

Hamza currently lectures around the nation showing poignant film clips from his U.S. travels and photos from war and life in Iraq while sharing thoughts about his country’s conflict and his commitment to raise awareness among young people about reconciliation and peace.

He graduated from Bagdad University in 2006, later won a Fulbright Scholarship and moved to the U.S. to earn a master’s degree in global security and conflict resolution.

Wanting to understand what Americans felt about their country’s involvement in the war, Hamza travelled across the country setting up a mobile booth that read, “Talk to an Iraqi.” Part of this journey was recently featured on National Public Radio and Showtime.
