(TRINIDAD, COLORADO) Area middle and high school students will have the opportunity to get free one-on-one help studying for finals at study group sessions in the Library at Trinidad State. Scheduled for Tuesday, December 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, December 13 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Student Success Center of the Freudenthal Library, science and math professors and experts from other fields will be available to answer questions and assist students with their studying.
“In speaking with some of the students that they’re concerned about finals coming up, I want to be sure they’re up to speed in what they need to know,” said Jenn Swanson, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) academic coach at Trinidad State. With academic professionals on campus and an array of resources available at the Library, hosting a study group allows local students to take full advantage of the offerings at Trinidad State.
Being the first study group sessions held at Trinidad State for middle and high school students, the workshops were developed in an effort to get students the help they need with enough time prior to finals and “to get them [local students] here on campus, get to know the staff a little bit and get them familiar with being here and being comfortable here,” according to Swanson.
In addition to these sessions, local students and members of the community are encouraged to utilize the resources available at Trinidad State and the Library. Normal Library hours are Mondays through Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 12 to 4 p.m. With an ID, visitors can check out books from the Library.
