Emily Griffith Technical College announces new Director of Instructional Programs

As Director of Instructional Programs, Ms. Van Doren will report directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for providing leadership and strategic vision in the planning, development, administration, and evaluation for all academic departments across the College’s three campuses.  Programming encompasses pre-college programs – adult basic education, GED, and English Learning Acquisition; oversight of the apprenticeship programs; the Continuing Education Division; and career and technical education programs in the Colleges of Business and Technology, Creative Arts and Design, Health Sciences, and Trades and Industry.

“I am looking forward to Linda’s strategic leadership and collaborative style in working with me and my senior team, and leading our instructional programs with dedicated faculty and staff,” said College Executive Director Jeff Barratt.  “She has an excellent background in academia and process improvement and experience both in the classroom and as an administrator.  She is a strategic thinker and effective communicator who will help Emily Griffith Technical College sustain its vision to be the premier institution of technical excellence.  Her enthusiasm for progressive and adult education and well as her understanding of the complexities and challenges of serving diverse learning community will be invaluable.”

Ms. Van Doren started at the College in November of 2012 as Dean of the Adult Education and Learning Language Center (AELLC), where she led her team in many successful reforms and initiatives.  EGTC’s AELLC department has become state and even nationally-recognized in providing adult education and serving non-native speaking students, many who ultimately transition into career and technical education programs.
