Cajun boil raises $39,884 for athletic scholarships

The dust has finally settled and the bids have been honored. The Northeastern Junior College athletic department and the Plainsmen Athletic Group are pleased to be able to report that the Cajun boil fundraiser that occurred in late October brought in $39,884 in athletic scholarship funding. The donors were extremely generous this year, responding to the college’s need for more private money to help build up the scholarship account so that coaches can continue to entice high quality athletes to choose NJC as their place to play while they get a college education.

NJC baseball calendar raffle event big hit for 2011

Baseball players at Northeastern Junior College have been out and about offering the new 2011 calendar for sale to locals and most of them will be packing a box full home to sell to family and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday next week.

NJC to Begin Soccer Program

McNutt has joined the athletic department at Northeastern Junior College to begin the process of building a new varsity soccer team here. He’s been spending his time scouting players at matches being played by the 3A to 5A schools on the Front Range and choosing and ordering supplies that will be needed to begin the new program at NJC. He will be recruiting between 30 or more players to NJC by this next fall with plans to put 25-30 of them on a roster. Continue reading

Former NJC track star honored by CSU

Sandy Ham Fetzer, originally from Haxtun, who attended and ran track for Northeastern Junior College back in 1988 to 1989 was recently inducted into Colorado State University’s Varsity Athletes Club Hall of Fame.
